Rag & Bone Ready

Last week before attending the Honolulu Night Market, I went strolling around with my dear cousin Rowena to see the murals completed by Pow Wow Hawaii down various streets in the area.  Since it was a gusty day, I wore my tweed-like cardigan by Rag & Bone along with a pair of shorts also by Rag & Bone, so I wouldn't get too warm through the night.  We did our best to see all of the murals that were completed, but there are still more to be explored, so I'll try to see those sometime soon.  Below I have some outfit shots in front of some of the walls we passed by, along with shots of just the walls.  All photos taken by Rowena Salanga.  =]

Outfit Details: white cotton v-neck tee by Ralph Lauren, wool blend tweed-like shawl collar cardigan by Rag & Bone, rust colored frayed edge cut off shorts by Rag & Bone, Bag: black lambskin with black nickel hardware Rocco mini duffel by Alexander Wang, Shoes: distressed black with black spikes Lita by Jeffrey Campbell.  See other photos for accessory details.

White geometric pendant necklace by Givenchy, silver stainless steel rings by L'Mond, antique silver chevron stacked bangles cuff by French Connection.

Some of the walls we passed by...there were more, but they were still in progress.  Not sure about the artists that did these, so check out Pow Wow Hawaii for more info if you're interested.

Award Season 2013 Best Dressed

It may or may not be surprising to know that award season a.k.a. "red carpet season" in Hollywood is one of my favorite times of the year in terms of style.  Being that the Academy Awards were last night, thereby ending the major awards for the season, I have picked out some of my absolute favorite red carpet looks from the varied awards.  Below I have 4 red carpet looks I picked from 4 of the major awards this year, along with details about which designer each person was wearing.  All photos were taken from either E Online or US Weekly (none are originals that I have taken).  =]

My favorite looks from the Golden Globe Awards, The Screen Actors Guild Awards, The Grammy Awards, and The Academy Awards (The Oscars).  More details from each look below.

Jessica Alba in a gorgeous salmon colored strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta at the Golden Globe Awards.

Amanda Seyfried in a beautifully structured navy strapless gown by Zac Posen at The Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Kelly Rowland in a stunning sleek black gown with body conscious cut outs by Georges Chakra at The Grammy Awards.

Jennifer Lawrence in a regal textured white strapless gown with a full skirt by Dior Haute Couture at The Academy Awards (The Oscars).

Mani(c) Monday - February 18, 2013 (Late Post)

I know, I know, I know...yet again another post meant for Monday going up a couple days later.  I should really be thinking of a new name for these posts.  Anyway, this week I have on Da Bush by Essie, a creamy pastel khaki green with a hint of grey, but it all depends on the lighting you're viewing it in.  I actually got this shade on clearance at TJMaxx for $3, so it was totally worth trying out, and I definitely did not have a shade quite like this in my arsenal before picking this one up.  The neutrality of this shade is pretty versatile, and I can see it being ideal for the spring/summer.  All photos taken by me.  =]

Event: Pow Wow Hawaii Artist Gallery Show 2013

On February 9th, I attended the Pow Wow Hawaii artist gallery showing at Fresh Cafe with bestie Ericka and Davis, our good friend from college.  Pow Wow Hawaii is a collaborative artist movement primarily focused on urban street art here in Hawaii, that annually has a week long string of events showcasing artists from both here and around the world.  An amazing artist friend of ours, Remi Mead was showing and participating in the festivities for Pow Wow Hawaii, so of course we had to stop by to support her work.  Being the dorky fangirl that I am, I wore my Remi Mead buttons so everyone there could see my support and pride.  Below are a couple photos of us at the show, as well as some outfit details, pieces of artwork I liked, and an overview of the showing.  Photos taken by Eric Baranda of Nonstop Honolulu, Ericka Nicole Bueno (Mixe Medium), and myself.  =]

Mani(c) Monday - February 11, 2012 (Late Post)

Late once again posting this up...but in my defense, I didn't do my nails until last night.  Anyway, I've been really into trying out lots of drugstore polishes lately since I haven't paid much attention to them over the years, mostly out of fear that they would lack in quality.  Nonetheless, I picked up the Revlon ColorStay nail polish in the shade Provence, a pale grey toned lavender shade perfect for the transition into spring.  I'm not usually all that fond of shades that are in the pastel color scheme, but this one has a chic quality about it that makes it quite the exception.  All photos taken by me.  =]

Festive in the Fields

Trying to take advantage of the remaining days of winter, I wanted to make use of the festive sweater I got for Christmas from my sister...and what better way to wear it than taking a walk out in the fields.  On a day out running errands and such, my cousin Rowena and I made a stop near some farmland to take in the sunset and the lovely breeze.  Since the breeze carried a slight chill, wearing a sweater was perfectly appropriate even though it doesn't get entirely that cold here in Hawaii.  A couple outfit pictures along with accessory shots are featured below.  Photos taken by Rowena and myself.  =]

Outfit details: grey and white zig zag printed knit sweater by Bar III, white skinny shorts by Levi's, black leather ankle boots by Bruno Magli.  Accessory details in other photos below.

Tribal chevron pendant with chain fringe detailing necklace by Kensie.

Leather Arena bracelet with Giant silver hardware in Latte by Balenciaga, silver stainless steel mesh band watch by Skagen.

Mani(c) Monday - February 4, 2013 (Late Post)

I've been thinking about it, and I came to the realization that I change up my nail color at least once a week, so I figured I would try to document that and post up what is currently on my nails every Monday.  I decided to play off the phrase "Manic Monday" and make it "Mani(c) Monday," for the sake of these manicure posts.  This week, I'm rocking Farah by Zoya, a mid-tone pale sandy beige color, that I'm totally obsessed with.  I'm a huge fan on neutral nail shades, and this one definitely goes with everything I've been wearing recently.  All photos taken by me.  =]
